Getting Ready for Costa Rica
Weather Information
Costa Rica, offers a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, making it a perfect destination for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The area enjoys a dry season from December to April, ideal for sunny days and clear skies, while the green season from May to November brings lush landscapes with occasional showers, mostly in the evenings. Additionally, Santa Teresa is located in a hurricane-free zone, providing travelers with extra peace of mind when planning their trip.
Flight Information
Las Lomas is located between the country's two major airports, Liberia (LIR) and San Jose (SJO).
For arrivals to LIR:
Las Lomas is located approximately 2.5 hours from the Liberia airport (LIR) in a fairly remote area. Travel to the property entails both mountain and river crossings. This drive should not be safely done after dark. For flights arriving after 3p local time, we will not be able to meet you at the airport to travel down to Las Lomas, and we advise you not to attempt the drive on your own in the evening. If you have a late-arriving flight, there is a Hilton Garden Inn across from the airport. Travel to the property can be arranged first thing the following morning.
For arrivals to SJO:
We strongly encourage flights into LIR, but understand that sometimes that may not be possible. Regarding transportation from SJO, you can pick up your rental car upon arrival and we can meet you at our side of the ferry, as long as the ferry arrives prior to 4p local time.
Rental Cars:
We are happy to take care of rental car reservations for you. We have relationships with the major companies and can arrange a rental at a discounted rate. We recommend a Toyota Prado or similar vehicle. Four wheel drive is necessary. There is a large van available, but it will not be able to travel the roads needed to access many excursions. If you have a large group, it is advisable to get multiple SUVs as opposed to a van.
Airport Transfer Services
Waze provides accurate directions to the property, but we understand the drive may feel a bit challenging for first-time visitors. If you’d prefer, our staff can meet you at the airport and assist with your arrival. We offer the option of a driver to accompany you in your rental car or a driver for you to follow back to the property.
The airport guidance fee is $250 from LIR and $390 from SJO. (Pricing for a minibus—accommodating up to 8 people—is for one-way service only.)
Partial Transfers
As a partial transfer, staff can meet you at the ferry if flying into SJO, or at the highway turnoff if flying into LIR.
